I really like your plumbing idea but I was looking into it and isn’t it illegal for you to drain greywater outdoors in a lot of areas? Especially camping grounds ? Like how does it work for you guys because I don’t want to pay a fine if I do this lol
I tested a simpler way
I do a simple and uncomplicated job.
Interesting fire pit, looks very warm, I want to make one too fire pit, looks very warm
Shoebox. I'm glad they were able to help you build that. I thought about building one. I'm not sure I want to though. I think I'd rather just buy one
As long as they don't check up the price. I'd rather just buy it cheaper one that's still nice
Not that your truck bed camper isn't good or anything, I just don't want to put in the work to building one because it is tedious
If I have a shop or space Also, that would be one thing I would be more likely to do it. However I don't. I have a parking lot LOL
Because at least with yours it is personalized to what you want
im currently in the middle of my build and im using 2x4s for the bucket and framing for the cabover for the rest im planning on using 2x2s for the sides and roof for weight and 1/4 plywood for skin and then rhino lining it.
Speak like a regular human being ffs
That is a HEAVY build! Very cool though 😀
Had to turn the video off because of the annoying crap you do with your hands.
tostadas fursurrrreeeee
STOP MOVING
How much
Cheap locks will fall. Also, out-swinging door is very easy to open. Install a good quality deadbolt in the door. (Schlage). Maybe a security plate to protect the bolt.
Esa versión es la urth plus de empaque gris ?
I didn't really find it valuable because to be honest I was hoping that he would go explaining his thought process about shooting. He has a different course for post-processing which uses DaVinci so the main course is pretty outdated and doesn't really cover the shooting part or the thought process behind certain shots.
Love the shoebox, I’ve been planning out doing a truck camper on an old flatbed ford dually, this video is super helpful, thank you!
That's waaaaay over built, and will weigh significantly more than it needs to. There are videos of builds using light and strong framing and panels, which are perfectly strong and don't weigh much.
It’s wild that you can just add extensions like this and the gov lets you
He built the roof to the max legal vehicle height limit so I’m pretty sure it’s allowed. He barely drives it though it’s more of a park up and leave it for months / years kinda tiny home
Сэр, ваш чердак уехал😅😂
Looks like it smells inside
Hahah yeah with him living in it, it probably does
Your house probably smells too
SHOEBOX how much did it cost ? Is 2*2 better ? It looks a bit heavy is you truck ok ?
It cost me about $5000 - $6000 to build but this was a few years ago so probably a bit most expensive today. It is a bit heavy so yeah I recommend using less material!
That's kinda cool, I like it.
Haha it’s weird but kinda fun
he's a keeper
What kind of gas mileage are you getting? I essentially have the same truck but long bed and on 35s. Already have realllyyy low mpg so not to sure if it’s worth making something similar.
That fuel mileage must suck
Hahah honestly I didn’t think of that but so true
Aero af
Hahah it’s the tallest legal vehicle height
How are you liking it now? I’m trying to decide between a teardrop/square drop camper but never even thought about building a truck camper. Would definitely save money because I already have a capable truck and wouldn’t have to buy a trailer.
I would have liked to know the camper weight.
Excellent
How much does it weigh and cost to build?
you need air bags!
Great job, way to go
Damn dude nice shop,2x4 heavy built,👍
Thats what happens when you have a carpenter help you build a camper....2x4 vs 2x2. I did like the idea of the 4x4 cantilever for the overhang. Thanks for sharing.
Nobody in this video is a carpenter lol
Is shoebox it's awesome you're lucky to have a good father you are very blessed
Thank you! I am very blessed to have him ❤️
Ok what was that bit about the 2x2 vs 4x4s? you said you would have used. Wouldn't it just be lighter to build it all withb the 2x2s, only using 4x4s in main stress paint area? I'm thinking about doing this with my Silverado....
That’s exactly what I was trying to say! Using more 2x2 would lighten the load and you can use 2x4 where you need it!
Lol don’t be using no 4x4’s and honestly a 2x4 is a dumb move. This thing weighs way too much
Hi. I am wanting to build this on my toyota tundra, do you have any information to build it. I am currently homeless living in my truck, would you have the plans written out or anything that could help me?
Hey I hope everything is alright! I unfortunately dont have too much I documented the whole build in videos on my channel you can watch them and they start with this one ruclips.net/video/m65CniO72uA/видео.html&ab_channel=Hondro Also i do have some drawings but honestly my videos will probably help more. hondro.squarespace.com/blog/free-camper-drawings If you have any questions i'm happy to help - to be honest it might be best to tackle something simpler for a fast build but not sure everything you are working with. Godspeed!
Nice DIY build and you are so positive, it is great! The camper has been great for skiing. I like to compare how a Canadian resident handles their heat. I see some others do the wood stove, too, but some also have diesel heater. If I did a build here in the states I'd stay most likely in the southwest, desert during winter and high country during the summer. And it would be full time.
Shoebox! How much would you say it weighs??
Hey It weighs about 1200 lbs dry
@@HondroBhave you looked at the sticker on the inside of your trucks door? Guessing it says like 950-1100 lbs. Even without the camper you’d be running at least 300 of that. You’re easily a 1000 pounds over the trucks gvwr lol be careful
That truck has way to much weight in it. It's sagging in the rear so bad, I would bet when driving it the steering is really loose. Because the truck was not designed to have weight like that in the bed. I would be curious to see how that truck is now. Unless you did add airbags or load levelers in the rear to compensate for the excessive amount of weight in the bed.
Yeah dude these comments are crazy. Sure he built it with his dad and the memories or whatever but that rear tire barely has clearance. That thing must weigh like 1400 lbs. Easily like 1000 pounds over the gvwr with all the stuff in there
No, the Toyota Tacoma is a quarter-ton, light-duty truck. The Tacoma has a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 0-6,000 lb (0-2,722 kg), which is in the Class 1 truck category. Half-ton trucks are full-size trucks that can typically carry around 1,000 lb, but most modern half-ton trucks can carry more than 1,000 lb and up to 2,000 lb, depending on how they are equipped.
Nobody realizes that this truck is a light duty pick-up. Like a Dodge Dakota or Gmc Canyon. No where near heavy-duty enough to accommodate this build. Unless he put air bags on it or helper springs to help with it being overloaded. Then of course once you step up the suspension or add air bags, now you need to hope the axle will hold up to the extra weight. Regardless of suspension the axle is still holding the weight.
I was wondering that cause he said it would be best for a 1 ton then put it on a quarter ton truck.
You recommend a 1/ 2 ton or bigger, but your truck isn't even a 1/2 ton. The Toyota Tacoma is a quarter-ton, light-duty truck.
How long it burn
honestly pretty long with eco logs in it i'll have warm coals in the morning after 6-8 hours but it wont be that hot anymore but enough to restart the fire
Awesome job lads! Very impressive!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Where can I find the spring loaded part at 15:20? Or was that a custom thing? Thanks.
hey i bought it from the same guy who built the woodstove so it should be on his etsy store. it's called a damper and its not actually spring loaded but has a spring on the handle so its not too hot to touch on a hot fire.
Awesome
Thanks!
😮
How much did it weigh
Roughly 1200 lbs dry
Shoebox, did you have a drawing of this camper? nice design.
Hey thanks!! i have some super bad hand drawn designs you can find them here hondro.squarespace.com/blog/free-camper-drawings
